Reflection #5
Dear Reader,
Throughout this semester, I had set goals that would help me throughout my work, but I feel like I barely accomplished them. My goals were getting above than an 80 in my classes, being able to manage school, soccer and working on my college applications and essays and finish them on time. Also managing my time was one of the first goals I set myself because I know if I did this well, I wouldn’t be behind on work or anything. I believe that I did accomplish this but barely because I have been distracted by things and I knew that but I was stubborn and not fully accomplish these goals. I accomplished all my goals but receiving 80s in all my classes, that wasn’t accomplished because I received on one 80 and the other I was missing at least two or three points in receiving that 80. These goals helped me stay on track with things and this semester has been one of the busiest time that I’ve had to deal with but I am prepare for what is going next.
Being part of the Hunter campus has had its struggles because this semester I didn’t take any college classes at all and just my regular high school classes, Math, History and English but my main struggle at Hunter was that I was given so much time for myself and my studies. This was a struggle because I get easily distracted. Also one struggle that has been hard for me this semester at Hunter would be that I only have three classes and I need to stay on top of my work and not slack off because of all the time that was given. I’ve worked on this by being able to ask for help keeping up with due work and following my schedule that I made at the beginning. Also I controlled my time and set different goals for each thing I will do. Being distracted for me was one of the biggest struggle because I am surrounded by a lot of friends, but I’ve also took time away from that and worked on being alone and getting things done before time. I think one thing that has worked is that I have my friends that stay on top of me and reminding about things and I am getting used to that and doing it alone. I still need work on managing my time more effectively.
This semester I only took three classes, which where my regular high school classes, Math, History and English. I think I did ok, I could of have done better but I needed to study harder for my exams. I only didn’t do as good in two of my classes but the other one I accomplished my goal of receiving an 80. In a year I see myself at a great college doing what I love best, playing soccer with a full scholarship and studying real hard. Also I see myself working really hard to not only make myself proud but my family as well. In 5 years I see myself graduating college and moving on to grad school and finishing my major. In 5 years I see myself having a degree in my major and knowing that everything I did in the past that helped me get to where I am now, paid off. In 10 years I see myself having a house, a car, hopefully married and working on a family. In 10 years, I see myself working in my major and helping my parents out with anything they ask and giving them what they didn’t have but what I did. Also I see myself still playing soccer with my friends and traveling. Achieving these goals will be difficult but it’s not like I am not willing to do it because if I set myself to anything, I believe I can get anything accomplished. Working on these goals will be like working on my life because it will be my life soon and I know that everything take hard work and dedication.
As a writer, I am very careful now in my techniques and I learn a little in how to work on my sentence structure. I think in life you have to be successful because everywhere you go, something has to written and turned in. I believe that in life writing has to be successful because without writing how will you get to where you want to be at. Engaging a reader and expressing learning lessons within your writing help me in other subjects besides English because you know the different techinques in writing and if you read it, you get used to that technique and use it as well. This can help me in life by knowing that reading about different techinques helps out a lot. I’ve learned that fiction has a lot of techniques in writing it and that it can be done with anything. I have enjoyed writing free writes because I can write everything on a piece of paper. Also working on my sudden fiction because I learned how to use my own experiences and mixing them up with different things. I think that the concept of writing in a different point of view has been hard for me. The concept that has been easy for me will be using the four characteristics of a character because it been easy for me. I plan on strengthening by using them more often.
At the end of the year in fiction class, I plan to accomplish all the different techniques and using them properly in my writing and knowing how to use them well. I hoped to accomplish by being a part of this pre-college program is being able to take classes at Hunter college and being able to experience an early view of what college will be like and how I will manage with a whole new different life style. This portfolio represent me as a student and as a person because I believe that in my writings, there is something that shows who I am and I know that as a student I worked really hard in receiving the grades I received. Also this portfolio represents me as a person because it’s all been written by me and it’s all my own work that I’ve learned to write from learning in fiction class. This also reflects me as a student because I know I learned to use different ways in writing in a whole new perspective.

Everrything went wrong
Delmy Del Cid
Sudden Fiction
I knew things went wrong when I lost my virginity. He wasn’t the same, he was distant from me. I barely saw him and when I did, he was in some other world.
“What’s wrong babe?” was the same question since everything went wrong. It was on a sunny day in Tampa, Florida where I first saw him. His name was Andrew, tall; light skin, pink lips, and dark long hair. When I saw him I was like I fell in love with him and I didn’t want to lose him.
“Hi, I am Andrew”
“Hi, I am Andrea” were the first words we ever said to each other. I never imagined myself without him two years after that day. Every moment of our lives we spent with each other. I grew up in Tampa, Florida and I lived with my mother. People always knew me as the sky and girly girl from the block. I had friends but some of them were back stabbers and I didn’t get along with them. That day when I first saw Andrew, I knew we had to each other and spending time together.
“Andrea, do you want to come to a party with me this Saturday night?” yeah sure why not.” The night was full of surprises; the summer breeze was warm and there were flowing heat waves around. The moon was at the crest stage and it illuminated the whole night sky. A walk on the beach was all it took for a “yes”. Weeks passed like waves on an ocean moving toward the sand. Andrew was not only hot and tall but he was a soccer player and he we both shared the passion for the sport. We learned different things from each other every day. We reached the maximum stage of our relationship; we made a whole year together. He doubted me because we were in different schools but we proved to each other our loyalty and commitment to each other. That night we spent it together, laying on the warm sand and looking up at the stars.
“Andrew, I’m ready”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I trust you with everything.”
“I could never hurt you, ever.”
“I know you wouldn’t.” Rolling all over the sand, the water hitting our bodies, cause chills on our skins. The night was warm and we were all alone in the beach, we spend it together and had the most member able night ever. I knew that I made the right choice in losing my virginity to him. After that night, a couple of weeks passed and things started to change. Days moved at the speed of light. A year after everything went wrong; we went our separate ways and disappeared in the dark. Everything changed and I didn’t see life as I before. A whole 2 years passed and Andrew didn’t finish his accomplishments, and soon he was going to be a baby daddy.
Reflection: I learned from the workshop process that everyone makes mistakes and no one has the perfect draft once they have finished their first one. Also I learned that being able to identity your mistakes, can lead in becoming a better editor and a writer too. Also I learned that people that edited my paper know where my weaknesses are and they tell me all about them.

Alien – Krizeerayha
Park- Everything is lost; where everyone loses everything. You come in and lose something.
Krizeerayha- Pet shop; different type of animals. Mermaids, unicorns, Griffins, etc. (Mythological pet shop).
Park: Earl Sweatshirt was walking into the Forget Park. He was playing football with his friends and when he leaves, he realizes he left his sweat shirt, he lost himself. When he realizes he lost his sweatshirt, he’s world dropped and he knew life wouldn’t be the same.
Krizeerayha- Mythological pet; Zeus goes to the store to buy a Cerbarus for his son, Heracules, for his birthday, but he is so forgetful, he ended up buying a Pegasus instead.
Part B:
A day in the life of Sofia, where she is living with her parents during her last months of her senior year in her high school. Sofia is a very unique teenager. She’s very active and different from other girls. Her bed is protected by her Voodoo Doll. She also can be describe as an artist, she shows herself as a Graff artist using her tag “Giggles” with her spray cans, black book and markers. When she has nothing to do, she lays on her bed either listening to her IPod, on her I Phone or watching television. She is a sneaker fanatic, but she especially loves Air Jordan because they are fashionable and comfortable. She has a bad girl attitude and once she had bought a pair of handcuffs to play around with while she was with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is a skater and he got her into skate boards. Sofia has Brazilian roots so she loves to pay soccer all the time and her favorite player is Neymar. When she gets home from either skating, soccer or tagging her tag in the streets, she relaxes on her bed and watching her pink lava lamp moving up and down. Her little brother sometimes asks her if they can play Nintendo 64 with him and since that day she’s always playing with him. Her grandmother gave a heart chain to her so she can carry it where she goes.
